“Parenting is the whole life commitment to diligently teach and lovingly train children to know Christ and his ways.”

On Saturday, March 7, we held a morning conference to help Equip the Parents of our church. Pastor Casey McCall led this main session and really laid the ground work for why such training is necessary from a Biblical lens.

In week four of our Equipped Studies series, Repentance: A Habit of Grace, Pastor Joe Abdelghany focuses on the believer’s ongoing battle with sin and the biblical call to actively fight against it.

Drawing from passages like Romans 8:13, Pastor Joe explains that repentance is more than feeling sorrow for sin—it involves an intentional effort to weaken sin’s power and influence in our lives. While the gospel frees believers from the penalty of sin through Christ, the daily Christian life calls us to engage in the ongoing work of putting sin to death.

Through vivid illustrations and practical application, this session emphasizes that sin is not passive. It actively seeks to grow, steal joy, damage relationships, and weaken our assurance of faith. Because of this, believers must approach sin with seriousness, learning to recognize its patterns, reject its influence, and pursue Christ with greater devotion.

Ultimately, this study offers hope and encouragement: through the power of the Holy Spirit and faith in Christ, believers are not powerless in the fight against sin. Instead, the gospel gives us both the motivation and the means to pursue real progress, greater joy, and deeper assurance as we grow in repentance and obedience.

In Proverbs 3:5–8, Scripture calls us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. In this sermon, Pastor Casey McCall shows that humility is the root of true wisdom. When we see God rightly and recognize our dependence on Him, we begin to live with clarity, repentance, and teachability. The wise life begins with a big view of God and a humble view of ourselves.

Pastor Casey concludes by showing what humility looks like in practice. The humble life is rooted in the fear of the Lord, shaped by honest confession of sin, and marked by a teachable spirit that welcomes correction and instruction. True wisdom is not found in self-confidence or self-exaltation, but in trusting Christ, submitting to His Word, and walking daily in humility before God.

In week three of our Equipped Studies series, Repentance: A Habit of Grace, Pastor Josh Crawford turns our attention to the role of confession as the first step toward genuine repentance.

Building on the foundation laid in the earlier weeks, this session explores what confession truly means in the Christian life. Rather than simply admitting wrongdoing, biblical confession involves agreeing with God about our sin—bringing it into the light and acknowledging it honestly before Him.

Pastor Josh also addresses the two common extremes believers often fall into: a guilt-driven view of confession that leads to shame and self-condemnation, and a casual view of sin that minimizes its seriousness. Instead, Scripture calls believers to a gospel-centered understanding of confession that leads to freedom, restoration, and deeper fellowship with God.

Through passages like 1 John 1, Psalm 32, and James 5, this study shows how confession clears the path toward repentance, inviting believers to walk in the light, pursue healing within Christian community, and experience the grace of Christ that restores and transforms.

As the series continues, we are reminded that confession is not the end of repentance—but the doorway that leads us toward lasting change and renewed fellowship with God.

Pastor Casey, Tucker, and guest Emily Armstrong reflect on the story’s themes, characters, and the questions it raises about justice, loyalty, faith, and the human longing for redemption. 

The conversation explores the powerful role of the novel’s characters—especially the father’s faithfulness, the tension surrounding Davy’s actions, and the unique perspective brought through Swede’s narration. Together, the group wrestles with how fiction can shape virtue, challenge our assumptions, and spark meaningful discussion within the church community.

They also reflect on how reading together as a church helps believers engage books more thoughtfully—learning not only from the text itself, but from the insights and perspectives of fellow readers.

We begin a new series in Proverbs by asking a foundational question: What is the Wisdom? In Proverbs 1:1–7, Pastor Casey McCall introduces us to biblical wisdom—not as mere practical advice, but as a way of life rooted in reverence for God and harmony with His created order. Wisdom is royal, relational, comprehensive, and moral. It shapes how we live, speak, work, parent, plan, and lead.

But Proverbs ultimately points us beyond technique or self-improvement. Scripture makes clear that we do not naturally possess wisdom, nor can we manufacture it on our own. Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, and true wisdom begins by turning from self-reliance to trusting and following Christ. This series will explore how the gospel shapes every area of life—because there is no wise life apart from Him.

In Luke 24:33–53, we reach the powerful conclusion of our journey through the Gospel of Luke as the risen Jesus appears to His disciples, opens their minds to understand the Scriptures, and commissions them to carry the gospel to the nations.
