Ashley Cooke's scary diagnosis, Mark Chesnutt hospitalized | Music City Minute

Listen Later

Ashley Cooke has always been thankful for the opportunity she’s earned, but a recent potentially deadly diagnosis has made her feel even more grateful. Over the summer, Cooke revealed she is living with Brugada syndrome. The "Your Place" singer explains the rare heart disease runs on her dad's side of the family. While the disease has no cure, Cooke isn’t letting the diagnosis slow her down. The Florida native is gearing up to release a new single called "Baby Blues" next month, followed by a trip across the pond for a handful of shows in the UK next year.

Country icon Mark Chestnutt has also been dealing with some health issues. After recovering from spinal and quadruple bypass surgery, the singer was feeling good enough to launch a tour. Unfortunately, Chestnutt had a small setback recently that landed in the hospital. The 62-year-old's management confirmed he was admitted and treated for low sodium and very high blood pressure. Although he had to cancel or postpone several dates on his current tour, the "Brother Jukebox" singer promises he will make it up to fans.
