  Beatty's guest today is Tara Well, a motivational psychologist and professor at Barnard College in Columbia University.  She developed a mirror-based meditation and taught hundreds of people to see beyond their surface appearance, relax their self-criticisms and develop kinder self-awareness. Prior to this discovery, she spent two decades researching the influence of motivation on our perceptions.  Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and published in top scientific journals.  In 2017, she started a blog , "The Clarity" for Psychology Today.  These and other topics have struck a chord with over 500 K readers.
