This week's episode is inspired by two personal experiences that happened to me last week, both having to do with payment for a project. It's easy for artists to shy away from asking a fair wage for what our skills our worth because we're excited to have any work at all, but it's also doing a disservice to both us and the industry that we are in. By low balling ourselves, or convincing ourselves that it's okay to work for free on someone else's passion project we're creating an atmosphere that is saying 'hey you don't need to pay us artists a fair (and living!) wage.' And that's not okay.
In today's episode I'm sharing with you the exact situations I experienced last week and how I'm approaching them about payment for their projects. Oh, and I'm not being sorry about asking for money, and you shouldn't either.
