This episode is based on a couple of questions from Facebook recently...
An anonymous leader friend wants to know: "Girls voted to go to Savannah and then a parent suggested families should go as well. And the girls were on board with that. How do I go about handling this. Shouldn't it be just girls and enough chaperones for this kind of trip?"
Toni wants to know: "What do your troops do when they arrive for a meeting, but you're still waiting for the complete group to start the meeting? We did coloring pages our first year, but looking for other ideas."
Jenny wants to know: "What are options for high schoolers to volunteer with the organization if they're not already Girl Scouts? A family friend has a wonderful high school daughter who is looking for volunteer opportunities in the community and expressed interest helping our troop of rising first graders going into their second Daisy year. Can I officially call her a volunteer? Does she need to be registered? Will she need a background check? Does she count as a chaperone? WIll Girl Scouts see her as a Senior Girl Scout member even if she isn't interested in an extracurricular type experience?"
If you could go to coffee with me and ask me anything about Girl Scouts and get my unfiltered, unrehearsed opinion, what would you want to know?
