To ask amiss is to to ask with wavering minds. Having a double opinion of God. Not seeing God in the light of His true nature won't produce the right approach to asking hence constraining answers. It isn't God who didn't answer but your disposition keeps you off the path of the answers. Faith is primary in receiving from God. Wisdom is the context here but it applies to every other matter.
