Welcome to Redemption Church of Plano Tx.
My name is Chris Fluitt.
We are excited to be a Church where you can ask questions and find answers.
We have answered…
Can I Really Trust the Bible?
If God is Good, why is the world so messed up.
Today we are asking…
Did I Do Something God Can’t Forgive
I have been asked this…
The Girl who cursed at God…
…Have I gone too far? Have I committed the unforgivable sin?
Most of us have a moment, a season, or a secret we hope no one brings up. We may especially hope God doesn’t bring it up…
Maybe it was that thing you said.
That choice you made.
That relationship that crashed.
That habit that keeps winning.
There are moments so shameful… Caught in the act…
A public failure… feels like that CEO who got caught on the kiss cam at a Coldplay concert—busted in front of thousands, with nowhere to hide. That CEO is wondering how to recover…
But we understand the feeling..
Did I Do Something God Can’t Forgive
Deep down, we have also wondered:
“Have I messed up too badly?”
”I’ve gone too far… now what?”
You might never say it out loud, but your heart whispers it:
“Did I do something God just can’t let go of?”
Whether you’ve been in church forever or are just figuring it out, we all know what it feels like to carry shame or regret.
And religion hasn’t always helped.
Sometimes it made people feel like God is mostly disappointed—just watching and waiting for us to fail again.
So what do we do when we feel like the thing we’ve done… might be too far?
Let’s start with the hard question people ask:
“Is there something God can’t forgive?”
Sunday School kid me would have raised hand and said – “There is nothing God can’t forgive.”
But little kid me had not read Mark 3.
Jesus actually tells us about an unforgivable sin!
📖 Mark 3:28–29 (NIV)
That sounds intense—so what is Jesus talking about?
✅ 1. There is one unforgivable sin—but it’s not what you think.
CONTEXT – Jesus said this to religious leaders (Pharisees) who had just watched Him perform undeniable miracles.
Instead of believing and receiving Jesus… they accused Him of being powered by Satan.
They weren’t confused…
They didn’t have slightly off theology…
—they were willfully rejecting the Holy Spirit’s work, even as it happened right in front of them.
What is “blasphemy of the Holy Spirit”?
-A persistent, willful rejection of the Holy Spirit’s work of pointing people to Jesus.
It’s not one angry outburst.
Not one season of doubt.
Not one epic failure.
👉 It’s a hardened heart that knows the truth… and keeps saying “no.”
Jesus calls it an eternal sin… what does that mean?
WHAT IF The “eternal” part of the sin isn’t about how bad the action is. WHAT IF It’s about how long someone keeps saying no – some may say NO for eternity.
In Mark 3 the religious leaders had seen the work of the Holy Spirit repeatedly… and they were rejecting it… even lying about Jesus.
Romans 1:21–28 describes people who knew about God but refused to honor Him.
Over time, they exchanged truth for lies—and God “gave them over” to their own choices.
That’s where we get the idea of a reprobate mind—a heart and mind so resistant, it no longer responds to the Spirit’s call.
💡 Think about it logically:
If Jesus is the One who forgives all sin…
then rejecting Jesus is the only sin that can’t be forgiven—because you’re cutting yourself off from the only source of grace.
This Logic checks out in Scripture
📖 John 3:18 (NIV)
You may ask… Am I condemned already?
✅ Here’s the good news:
If you’re worried you’ve done it—you haven’t.
If you still want grace, still care about Jesus, still feel conviction—then the Holy Spirit is still working in you.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is a persistent rejection of Jesus by a hardened heart.
Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is not failure, fear, or worry about faith.
God’s grace is still reaching for you.
✅ 2. God’s grace covers more than you think.
How good is God’s Grace?
📖 1 John 1:9 (NIV)
The only condition is this: “If we confess…”
No rituals. No performance. No spiritual hoops to jump through. Just honesty.
When we confess, we don’t twist God’s arm—we open our hearts by CONFESSING.
👉 Confession to God is where we admit our guilt—and receive His grace.
It’s not about punishment. It’s about coming clean and being made new.
God’s forgiveness isn’t partial or hesitant.
It’s full, faithful, and immediate.
Let this truth settle in:
If you’re willing to bring it to God, He’s already willing to forgive it.
God’s grace isn’t fragile. It’s stronger than your worst mistake.
✅ 3. Jesus didn’t come for perfect people—He came for people just like us.
📖 Luke 7:36–50 (NIV) — A woman with a bad reputation crashes a dinner party. She weeps, wipes Jesus’ feet, and everyone’s uncomfortable.
But Jesus says:
Luke 7:47
He doesn’t shame her. He honors her faith.
He doesn’t lecture her. He lifts her.
The ones closest to grace aren’t the ones who have it all together.
They’re the ones who know how deeply they need it and confess it.
Let’s be real – Sin is a big deal.
It separates us from God.
Rejecting the Spirit’s invitation to grace is a big deal.
It’s not something to ignore, explain away, or put off for another day.
DON’T GET IT TWISTED…
It would be easy for you to hear this message and think it is only for people coming to faith…
NO! Sin is still a big deal for those who have come to Christ. The Spirit’s invitation is still a big deal for the long time Christian.
This moment matters FOR ALL OF US.
Don’t miss it.
That girl who was afraid that she had gone too far… She had cursed God.
Imagine her relief when she heard the good news that God’s grace was not done with her.
Scripture says “If we confess our sins…”
You don’t need to clean yourself up. You just need to come clean.
Let’s respond right now— and receive the grace that’s already reaching for us.
Time to Respond
✅ 1. Stop hiding and start trusting
You don’t have to pretend.
Bring the real you to the real God.
He already knows—and He still invites you in.
✅ 2. Name what needs forgiveness
Shame has had too much power… The moment you confess to God you will free.
“IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS…”
Say it. Pray it.
✅ 3. Follow the draw of the Holy Spirit
That pull you feel in your heart today—don’t ignore it.
That’s the Spirit inviting you to come closer.
👉 Come pray.
👉 Come worship.
👉 Come receive.
