We unpack so much in this episode, from muslim representation, identity, chidren's books, overcoming grief, spirituality to entrepreneurship, imposter syndrome, societal pressures on women, impact of Asmaa's work and her recent viral Hijab story.
One of my favorite episodes to do ever! Don't miss out on this one!
Asmaa Hussein is an author, blogger, social worker and founder of Ruqaya's bookshelf, a publishing company based in Canada. (Her official title is "Director of Awesomeness.")
Since 2015, Ruqaya's Bookshelf's mission has been to publish bright, fun, and engaging Islamic children’s books.
All her books feature diverse characters and protagonists, because she believes Muslim representation matters!
She beleives Diversity in children’s literature contributes astronomically to a child's character education.
Asmaa named her publishing company after her daughter – Ruqaya – because she loves books more than anything.
