Greetings listeners of the Latin Prayer Podcast - today we will learn the Asperges Me - a prayer that I discovered first 7 years ago in a small prayer manual that I inherited and would say to myself whenever I left or entered my home and blessed myself with Holy Water from the little fount at our door. A few years later I discovered that this prayer is the great Antiphon that precedes the celebrating of a Traditional High Mass and it is glorious to behold. Still I take simple joy in praying it silently whenever I bless myself with Holy Water.
Asperges me, Domine, hyssopo et mundabor,Lavabis me, et super nivem dealbabor.Miserere mei, Deus, secundum magnam misericordiam tuam.
Thou shalt sprinkle me with hyssop, and I shall be cleansed:Thou shalt wash me, and I shall be made whiter than snow.Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy great mercy.
