This article looks to objectively assess the effect of companies’ share repurchase programmes in America. Is it right for companies to spend so much spare cash on shareholders? Can they not use it better? What other ways can they use it? How effective really are buybacks for the economy? These are some of the issues this article aims to shed some light on.
