Stateside Toffees who woke up early for this one likely felt a certain amount of regret after an uneventful first half was marked by a Danny Ings goal to put the Villains in the driver's seat. Buendia added another late in the second half which looked to effectively end the match before a Lucas Digne own goal injected some life into the Blues as stoppage time approached, where they nearly grabbed an equalizer.
