Christy joined one of the church’s mission teams upon graduating high school.  There was a quota of baptisms that leaders on the mission field were required to meet.  Through the purusit of these quotas, some baptisms were rushed.  There were people who were baptized for the sake of the increase in church wide statistics and numerical growth.  She describes the leaders as using fear and intimidation on other leaders to keep them in step with the church wide practices and beliefs.  The leaders set up an internal environment in which everything that one does must be done to be worthy of God.    

Christy uses the phrases "control" and "manipulation" to describe the church.   As a leader of the church, every hour of her day was accounted for and needed to be accessible to her superiors at all times.  Most of what she was accountable for was the overall numerical growth of the church.  Christy talks to us about the “weak and concerned list” that leaders used to talk about the general membership.  The weak members of the church were never supported; they were judged.  Christy also tells up about the leaders using “god ordained gossip” to control the membership.
