Rev'd Canon Brendan Alger will be remembered by many for his long and active ministry on the Island as Parish Priest of St Mary of the Isle, Douglas, and Dean (or leader) of the Roman Catholic Churches on the Isle of Man from his arrival in 1989 to his retirement in early 2011.
We mark his recent death - peacefully at his home in Onchan - with extracts from a service which he led, including his sermon, and music from St Mary's Church Choir.
Throughout his life, Canon Brendan was a keen historian - and this is reflected in a celebration of the early Christian Saint Aidan in stories from David Adam and music from folk singer Andrew Lobb
