ATA Accuses Alberta of 'Bad-Faith' Teacher Hiring Promise

The Alberta Teachers’ Association accuses the province of bad-faith bargaining over a disagreement about hiring three thousand new teachers, as promised in the Back to School Act. The ATA filed sixty-one grievances and claims the government misrepresented its intentions during negotiations. The government maintains that the bills purpose was to get kids back to school and will address hiring commitments later. The ATAs president, Jason Schilling, believes the government is rewriting its commitments and hopes the complaint will hold them accountable.
