Episode 40: Less than six months ago, Athena Vassilopoulos graduated from LUC with a major in Governance Economics & Development and a minor in Social Business & Entrepreneurship. She decided to take time to work on her personal development, rather than pursuing a masters degree or an internship. Considering her passion for food, she began working in kitchens.
During her time off, she became interested in programming and started to look for opportunities to engage in the field. To improve her understanding, she decided to take part in a coding bootcamp in Montreal. As part of her preparation for this future endeavour, she explored the digital sphere in Luxembourg, discovering Women In Digital Empowerment (https://wide.lu), a Luxembourgish NGO working towards empowering individuals in a digital setting. She followed a blockchain training with them before actively contributing to their blockchain and open data related projects.
In the meantime, she also became a member of Letzblock (https://www.letzblock.com), the main blockchain association in Luxembourg. These experiences gave her better insights and fostered her interest for the coordination of technological innovation within the digital transition.
In this podcast, she talks about the struggle of taking time in a fast-paced society where everyone seems to be moving at the speed of light, the importance of asking yourself why and making sure that you are coherent with yourself.
Her motto? “The most important thing we learn at school is the fact that the most important things can't be learned at school.” -- Haruki Murakami, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running
