Cole Sprout’s journey from high school standout to collegiate track star has been remarkable. Graduating from Valor Christian in 2020 with seven state titles—without even completing his senior track season—Cole made an immediate impact at Stanford University, proving his talent on a much larger stage.

At Stanford, Cole’s dedication and grit have propelled him to new heights. In his time there, he has earned five All-American honors and played a key role in Stanford’s cross-country team winning multiple Pac-12 and West Region titles. His personal bests speak for themselves, including breaking the four-minute mile with a stunning 3:56.53. The transition from high school to college wasn’t just about speed; it was about adapting to new levels of competition, team dynamics, and personal growth.

Cole often reflects on the shift from training solo in high school to being part of a cohesive, driven team at Stanford. He also highlights how the shift in mindset—learning to put the team first—was as crucial as the physical changes, like ramping up his weekly mileage from 50 miles in high school to 90 in college.

Cole’s advice to young athletes looking to make their own transition? Patience and perspective. 

Though the road hasn’t been easy—leaving his family and support system behind was tough—Cole’s experiences have made him a better athlete, teammate, and person. Today, he continues to push boundaries, chasing faster times and more championships, but always with an eye on what truly matters: the journey.

Charlie Swanson, a 26-year-old powerhouse from Richmond, Virginia, has quickly made a name for himself in competitive swimming. Standing at 6'3", this University of Michigan alumnus has left an indelible mark on the sport in his debut Olympic appearance at Paris 2024.

In his first Olympic Games, Swanson showcased his versatility and team spirit: Gold medal in the 4 x 100m Mixed Medley Relay, Silver medal in the 4 x 100m Men's Medley Relay, 14th place in the 100m Breaststroke individual event.

Swanson's journey to Olympic success began in the pools of NOVA of Virginia Aquatics under coach Geoff Brown. His talent was evident early on, earning him spots on the USA National Junior Team (2015-2017) and the USA National Team (2017-2024). At the University of Michigan, Swanson's aquatic prowess continued to shine: 4-time All-American, 5-time Big 10 Champion (4 times in 400 IM, once in 800 Free relay), Qualified for NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships all four years.

Prior to his Olympic debut, Swanson had already made waves on the international stage: 2019 Pan American Games: Gold in 400m Individual Medley, 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships: Silver in 400m Individual Medley, 2015 World Junior Championships: Medalist in 400m Individual Medley.

The son of Mary Scott Swanson, Charlie's dedication to swimming is matched by his humility and connection to his roots. Even as he trains in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he continues to represent NOVA in national competitions, proudly wearing his hometown on his cap. Lucy Olsen, a 5'10" graduate student from Collegeville, Pa., joins the Iowa Hawkeyes as their new point guard for the 2024-25 season. Olsen transferred from Villanova, leaving an indelible mark on the program's history.

In her stellar 2023-24 season at Villanova, Olsen was named an Honorable Mention All-American by both the WBCA and the Associated Press. She ranked third in the country in scoring, averaging an impressive 23.3 points per game. Her outstanding performance earned her unanimous first-team All-Big Easr selection and the Big East Most Improved Player award.

Olsen's basketball journey began at Spring-Ford High School, where she became the all-time leading scorer for boys and girls with 1,699 points. Her high school accolades include being named 2021 Miss Pennsylvania Basketball and earning two-time first-team All-State honors.

At Villanova, Olsen's growth was remarkable. She progressed from a Big East All-Rookie Team selection in her freshman year to a second-team All-Big East player in her sophomore year, culminating in her breakout junior season. Throughout her college career, she demonstrated versatility as both a scorer and facilitator, finishing her Villanova career ranked ninth all-time in scoring with 1,504 points.

Known for her infectious enthusiasm and love for the game, Olsen brings her scoring and a passion that energizes her teammates.
