On this episode, our reds, Phil and Gary, are joined over zoom by ex Liverpool midfielder and current Blackpool captain Jay Spearing. Jay talks through how he made his way through the ranks to make the first team which included quite a few setback he had to overcome. Jay was in the team at the end of Rafael Benitez’s reign, through Roy Hodgson, King Kenny and the beginning of Brendan Rodgers’ tenure. He’s talks openly and honestly about things that went on during these periods, from the infamous Rafa rant, Roy’s failures and the Suárez/ Evra racism incident were the club decided to wear T-shirts supporting Suárez. He also talks about his feeling during certain milestones in his career from making his debut in a 1-3 victory against PSV, his home debut in the 4-0 victory over Madrid, being promoted to Melwood and the first team and winning a trophy with his boyhood club. This is a brilliant listen for any red. Spearing is a local lad who has lived every young lads dream and it shows just that listening to him.
