The Attack of the Dead Men, also known as the Battle of Osowiec Fortress, occurred during World War I on August 6, 1915, in what is now northeastern Poland. This battle gained its name from the eerie sight of Russian soldiers, resembling zombies, who were bombarded with a deadly mix of poison gases, including chlorine and bromine, by the Germans. Despite being blinded and coughing up blood, the Russians bravely managed to repel the German forces and secure victory against insurmountable odds.
