Erica Stearns created this podcast to amplify the stories of those in the disability, rare disease, and medically complex community.
Here on Atypical Truth, we explore the spectrum of miracles, messiness, triumphs, and hardships pertaining to those impacted by disabilities.
Erica Stearns grew up with disabilities and is now a mother of two with complex medical conditions. From suctioning her tracheostomy at two years old, pretending her g-tube stoma was an extra belly button, countless surgeries, and frequent hospitalizations; she is revisiting much of her childhood with her kids, managing many of the same things with the addition of intractable malignant migrating epilepsy. Erica states, "There is no denying that my voice and my children are perfectly imperfect miracles, but even the lives of those blessed with miracles are messy."
