This is your audiobook for June 2025: "An Intangible Clue" by Anna Katharine Green.
For this month’s theme of pre-1920 women sleuths, the book club is reading Lady Molly of Scotland Yard by Baroness Orczy. In keeping with that theme, you will hear “An Intangible Clue” by Anna Katharine Green, featuring the ever capable “girl detective” Violet Strange. The story opens with a conversation between Strange and her employer as he asks her assistance in a murder investigation. After hearing the sordid details, our sleuth asks him, “What do you see in me, or miss in me, that you should drag me into an atmosphere of low-down crime?” It takes some convincing, but Strange eventually agrees to solve her first ever murder case.
After listening, if you'd like to discuss this story with other members or make suggestions for me to record in the future, head over to the audiobook club area of the forum to do that.
