The Hidden Workforce

Audra Beasley and House Rep. Mickey Dollens, Max's Law Ep. 48

Listen Later

Welcome, listeners! Join me, Lisa Toth, as we venture through the Hidden Workforce, a show about the positive impact people who live with different abilities bring to the workforce and our world.

Tune in this week as Lisa talks with Audra Beasley and Representative Mickey Dollens about Max's Law.

A majority of public restrooms can only accommodate babies. Audra Beasley and her family want to change that by bringing awareness and policy change through Max's Law to the need for universal changing stations in restrooms that allow for older children, adults, and their caretakers to attend to their personal hygiene needs and do so with cleanliness and dignity. Currently, those who need this level of care have to lie on the floor of a public restroom for this process. Audra shares how she began a partnership and foundation to make this big accessibility issue a priority for her son Max and everyone else who needs a safe private place to do the personal business most of us take for granted.
State House Representative Mickey Dollens was one of the 208 Oklahoma City Public School teachers laid off in 2016 due to budget cuts set forth by the Oklahoma legislature. Instead of searching for alternative employment or moving out of state, Rep. Dollens chose to focus his energy on winning his state seat and bringing reform to the Oklahoma Legislature. Rep. Dollens serves on the following committees: Tourism, Vice Chair, A&B Education, Health Services and Long-Term Care, and Transportation.
Send locks and keys to support Max's Law and equal public restroom access to Rep. Dollens.

Let him know you appreciate his efforts for equitable changing spaces.
