Audre Lorde is a decorated author and poet, Lorde exuded feminism through her work. Originally involved in a heterosexual marriage with Edwin Rollins which gave her two children, Lorde decided that she would transform her life into being unapologetically herself. Lorde came out as Lesbian two years after her divorce found her lifetime partner Francis Clayton. Much of Lorde’s work contains themes surrounding black womanism and civil rights. Some of her most known work includes No Hierarchy of Oppression (1984) and The Cancer Journals (1980). Lorde wrote the latter while enduring breast cancer which ultimately claimed her life.
