When you do something, it can be against your best interest for your future self but it feels really good in the moment. When it comes to diets and exercise, it feels good to lay on the couch all day and eat pizza but done over a long period of time can lead to an unhealthier future version of yourself. 

So we need to be reminded that our future depends on the actions that we take today. When it comes to saying no to the temptations, just to remember your why you need to be healthy. It will mean that you have more energy to spend with your family and have less joint pain in your golden year. Or that you won't have to buy larger clothes for your larger frame and have more confidence in yourself.

When it comes to avoiding desserts, say something, "I don't need sweets because I am sweet enough." We need to be reminded why we are maintaining our healthy behaviors and whatever system you use that works, keep on doing it. And keep doing it for your future self because their survival is dependent on what you do today.
