In our quest for eternal life, we often miss the point of what Jesus truly offers. This message challenges us to rethink our understanding of eternal life, not as a distant future in heaven, but as a present reality rooted in our relationship with Christ. We're reminded of the rich young man who asked Jesus about inheriting eternal life, and how Jesus' response points to a deeper truth. The focus isn't on sin or merely 'getting to heaven,' but on experiencing the fullness of life here and now. We're encouraged to 'gnaw' on Jesus' teachings, to deeply contemplate and internalize His words and presence. Through communion, we're given a tangible reminder that this life, this body, this creation is real and valuable. Let's shift our perspective from seeing life as a shadow of eternity to recognizing the eternal quality of our present existence in Christ.
Christ Church is an Episcopal church in South Tulsa, Oklahoma; we welcome all saints, sinners, and skeptics alike.
