When things aren't adding up in your life, the next step you should probably do is to start subtracting things from your life. Like with a fruit tree, to avoid having a 100 mediocre pieces of fruit, you start cutting off some of the branches so more energy is being delivered to fewer pieces of fruit which results in larger and sweeter pieces to eat.
If things feel mediocre in your life, look at your schedule and see which items need to be removed from your life. Do you need to cut out certain meetings in your life so you can focus more on the projects that will build up your skills? Or do you need to cut out certain social events so you can spend more time studying and creating?
We feel like we can do it all but we can't do it all. Energy causes things to grow and if you don't give things the proper amount of energy, then you just end up in mediocrity. A good way to figure out if you need to subtract things from your life is to act like you're starting from zero and that you need to add things to your life. Which one of the activities are you going to add and which ones are going to be left on the shelf. Your goals determine which items need to be left on the shelf. So analyze where you want to be in the future and start subtracting something from your life and fill them up with the things you should be doing.
