Jesus tells a story about a king who puts his servants in charge of some cash money. While the king is gone, they're supposed to use it as if he were still present. Two do, one doesn't; bad things happen to the one who doesn't.
- God wants us. God wants to be in our lives.
- We don't want God. When we look around at the world it doesn't take us very long to figure out that we human beings don't want God and don't want the ways of God.
- In spite of our messing things up, God still wants us.
- Two servants gain money, one doesn't. The two who did a good job were commended because they were faithful - it had nothing to do with how much they gained. They were faithful. They risked what they had been given and they risked being associated with a guy no one else wanted as king. What does it look like for us to risk what we've been given in service of the divine?
