“Back to School”

Intro:  When do you ask the question, “Why?” and do you get sufficient   

        answers to this question?

I.  “’Meaningless! Meaningless!’ says the Teacher. ‘Utterly  

    meaningless!  Everything is meaningless.’” – Ecclesiastes 1:2

A.  Who is the Teacher?

B.  Studying is a heavy burden

II.  “I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; 

    all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” 

    – Ecclesiastes 1:14

A.  Wise vs Fool

1.  Toil under the sun

2.  Toil with knowledge and skill

B.  Eat, Drink, and be Merry

C.  “To the one who pleases Him, God gives wisdom 

              and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner He gives 

              the business of gathering and collecting, only to 

              hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too 

              is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” 

              – Ecclesiastes 2:26

III.  “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things    

     that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is 

     hidden with Christ in God.” – Colossians 3:2-3
