Direct Upgrades in Planetside 2 include things like Suit Slots, Ability Slots, Vehicle Weapon Attachments, and similar items. Things that you can empower at no cost other than your hard-earned certs.

This is a stupid system and it should be abolished in favor of something more FPS-centric.
