Today, the City Council approved hiring Brian Manley, who has been doing the job on an interim basis for more than 18 months. Manley has spent his 30-year career working his way through the ranks of the Austin Police Department. City Manager Spencer Cronk made him the sole candidate for the chief’s job in April.
