Home to roughly 20% of Australia’s bird species, the King Leopold Range is an island of diversity amid the hostile and extremely rugged landscape that characterizes this part of the world. This low-lying mountain range (though they are more like hills, really) lies in the remote northwest of Australia, along the famed Gibb River Rd. It is most famous for its extraordinary waterfalls, such as Bell and Lennard Gorges, but it also contains innumerable billabongs and other quiet waterways and fishing holes amidst the low hills that rise up above the rugged savannah of the Kimberley region. In this soundscape, you will hear dawn turning to day and the cacophony of bird songs that herald the coming of a new day. The moon was nearly full and settling in the Western sky as the sun rose to another rainless day in the long stretch of the dry that characterizes this part of the world May - October. A rock wallaby hopped off into the bush just as the recording was being set up but unfortunately he didn’t bounce back into the soundscape. If you need nature sounds to study or read to or you like to meditate or walk to bird songs from some of the more remote landscapes on earth, then try this recording out. Hosted on Acast.
