“Nuh-uh, I’m not going to do that!”

V 4-5: Foot washing was a servant’s job

V 3: The King of Kings and Lord of Lords is a servant

V 16: You will be blessed to do likewise

“It is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”

Luke 9:48

Why did Jesus do it?

V 1b: Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. “

“…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26-27

“Nuh-uh, I’m not doing that!”

Personal Desire Challenge: “God, give me eyes to see needs around me and the wisdom as to how to respond

V 15-17: “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”

Final Thought: When you serve others, God changes lives and the first life he changes is yours
