Liam is the Stuart Professor of Scottish Studies and Director of the Centre for Irish and Scottish Studies at University of Otago in New Zealand.
He has previously won The McIlvanney Prize at Bloody Scotland, an award named in honour of his father William McIlvanney – creator of Tartan Noir.
The Good Father has been selected for the Long List for 2025.
