This sermon unpacks the biblical difference between authority and power and why believers need both to live effectively for Christ. Drawing from Jesus’ words and the early church, Pastor Clive Pawson explains that authority (exousia) is the delegated right to enforce Christ’s victory over the enemy, while power (dunamis) is the Holy Spirit’s enabling to witness, endure, and advance God’s Kingdom. Authority without relationship leads to pride, and power without authority leads to imbalance, but together, grounded in submission to God and dependence on the Spirit, they produce bold, humble, and fruitful disciples who walk in freedom and impact the world for Christ.
