Understanding the difference
Notes:
1. If we’re not careful, we’ll spend our lives chasing what looks impressive instead of walking in what is effective.
o Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
2. What is Power?
3. Power: 1411. δύναμις dúnamis; to be able, capable, the factuality of the ability, not necessarily the accomplishment.
4. What is Authority?
5. Authority: 1849. ἐξουσία exousía; it is permissible, allowed. Permission, authority, right, liberty, power to do something - denies the presence of a hindrance
6. Power is the ability to act, but authority is the right to act.
7. The Danger of Having Power Without Authority
8. Talent without submission
9. Gifts without obedience
10. Influence without covering
o Acts 19:13-16 (NLT)
o Acts 3:10-16 (NLT)
o John 5:19 (NKJV)
11. Authority Comes from Proper Kingdom Alignment.
12. Submission to God
13. Submission to His Word
14. Submission to His will with the people He has placed in/over your life
o James 4:7 (NKJV)
15. When you walk in authority…you don’t have to force power.
16. Stay connected to God – Authority flows from relationship.
17. Stay under God’s Word – Authority flows from truth.
18. Stay submitted – Authority flows from alignment.
