Autopsy Files: Constitutional Carry Passes Finish Line

Legislation removing the requirement for Texas gun owners to hold a permit from the state in order to carry their firearms has been a top priority for the Republican Party of Texas and gun owners across the Lone Star State for a long time.
In fact, constitutional carry was the first “legislative priority” approved by the delegates to the Texas GOP’s convention a decade ago.
In the inaugural episode of the Texas Scorecard Autopsy Files, we examine the success of constitutional carry legislation during the recent legislative session—and the long road activists took to get there.
Rachel Malone, the Texas Director for Gun Owners of America, describes the roadblocks the legislation met during the process, and how pressure from citizen activists made the longtime priority a reality.
