Biodynamic Gardening Report 19—Sept. 26 – Oct. 2, 2014 
On the Autumnal Equinox, we visited farmer Ralph Johnson’s San Luis Obispo farm to see the source of so much of our favorite produce, including a tasty salad mix, delicious Padrón peppers, and dry-farmed tomatoes summer-sweet. We watched the unearthing of the quartz powder-filled cow horn at 7:30pm on September 20, the precise moment of the equinox, and the emptying of the crystals and refilling with fresh cow manure from a lactating cow. Super weird for some but apparently very effective in increasing yields.
