Avalanche's Offensive Power vs Oilers

Listen Later

Colorado Avalanche: A Dominant Force in the NHLThe Colorado Avalanche are currently leading the league standings, boasting an impressive record of eight wins, one regulation loss, and five overtime losses through fourteen games. Their offense is particularly dangerous, averaging nearly three and a half goals per game. Key players like Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar are driving this offensive machine, while Viktor Olofsson has been providing quality offense as a sneaky under-the-radar signing. However, Brock Nelson has been a disappointment with only five points so far this season. The Avalanche defense has seen some interesting developments, with Brent Burns playing a lot of ice time and contributing significantly. The top defensive pair of Cale Makar and Devon Toews remains strong, but Toews offensive numbers have dipped this season. Young players like Ilya Solovyov and Sam Malinski have stepped up to fill in on the backend, with Malinski doing a lot of good things for the team.Looking ahead, the Avalanche will play back-to-back games, and it remains to be seen which game Mackenzie Blackwood will start to shake off some rust. Logan OConnor and Sam Girard are still out with injuries, but Gavin Brindley is expected to return after a concussion. The Oilers might benefit from games going past regulation, as the Avalanche have yet to win a game that extends beyond sixty minutes this season.
