Legalism is getting stuck with rules and regulations above everything else. Legalistic people want to be right instead of doing right. They want to major in the minors and minor in the majors. Unfortunately, legalism is very much alive in churches as well as in the lives of Christians everywhere. This damages relationships and makes the Gospel repulsive to people. We need to learn how to avoid legalism.
