What do you do when the opportunity is right in front of you—but you’re not sure God has said go?

In this episode, we walk through the opening chapters of Joshua and the Israelites’ long-awaited entrance into the Promised Land. Their story reminds us that following God isn’t simply about moving when the timing looks right. It’s about praying, listening, obeying, and trusting His timing.

We’ll talk about the difference between rushing ahead and waiting too long, why God asked His people to stop and remember what He had done, and what it means to be strong and courageous—not because we have everything figured out, but because God is with us.

Before asking God to bless the path in front of us, perhaps the better question is: Has He called us to it?

What does it really look like to walk with God through battles, change, and new beginnings?

In this episode of Await & Arise, we begin our journey through Joshua and Genesis—two books filled with battles, beginnings, promises, and the faithfulness of God. From Joshua stepping onto the battlefield to Israel entering the Promised Land, we see again and again that the victory was never theirs to accomplish alone. God was already at work.

The same is true in our lives.

We may not fight the physical battles Joshua faced, but we face very real spiritual and personal battles—seasons of uncertainty, change, temptation, waiting, and beginning again. Through it all, God remains faithful. His promises are true, His presence is with us, and He is continually calling us to trust Him, persevere, and become people who reveal Him more clearly to the world around us.

Battles and beginnings—this is what it looks like to walk with God.

Situations can catch us off guard and typically my response is fear, but God calls us to trust in him and to instead respond in faith.  
Today's teaching focuses on David as he flees from Saul and we see that fear jeopardize the town of priests at Nob and his response in fear lacking faith.  
God is in it with him though and eventually we see David's fear turn to faith and God continues to give David victory even when times seem bleak.

This is the final teaching for our 30 weeks in Psalms.  What a great study it has been.  And a perfect wrap to this study of why we praise God in all situations.  Struggle or victory...praise God.  

I hope you have been encouraged and edified by these teachings and I look forward to seeing you back here in the fall when we start our study in Joshua.

You know we study the word and we dig to find God and to understand him better.  But we often forget to take a step back and reflect on our own stories.  How has God been good in your life?  This week we dive into the Psalms that the Israelites sang to remind themselves of all that God had done for them, all that he had walked them through and the miracles he performed to rescue them time and time again.  

What a marker that would be if we sang the songs of the memories of our life in order to remember what God had done for us and to praise Him for it all.  In the good and the bad we would see Him even more clearly as protector, provider, comforter, miracle worker and personal to you and I.  

I hope you are encouraged by this word and that you do step back and take note of all God has worked for good in your own life as you read through and listen to the teaching on the accounts of the ways he worked good out for the Israelites.

The truth of vindication in this world is that it is never really full or complete.  As we study David in his time of running from Saul we see him desire to be vindicated.  He never wanted to harm Saul, he sought only to honor him as God's appointed king until God said otherwise.  But Saul knew that God was calling him out and he did not want to let go of his power and so he sought after David to kill him and thus remove the threat of losing his throne.  

We know that David never got vindication from Saul, but he did get vindication from God.  Many times in our lives we seek vindication from wrong doings done against us, falsities spoken against us or harm done to us only to find that vindication won't come.  Our peace comes from God.  In chapter 120 David says, "I seek peace, but when I speak they seek war."  

God is the only true source of vindication and peace, so why look anywhere else?

Our lives are made up of transitions and changes and plans we thought we had figured out only to hiccup and there we are headed east when we thought for sure we would be headed west.  
But God is in control, if we ask him to be.  
James 4:13 says, "Now listen, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.' Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

How true, our life is but a mist that is here for a little while and then vanishes, shouldn't we be so focused on what God has for us ready to be obedient as He calls so we can experience the best of life through Him.  Well Kaylee and Angela visit about how life's transitions and changes can lead to better places than we ever expected if only we drop our own expectations and obey God's call.

This week in CBS we studied through Psalm 28, 58, 83 & 109.  Your encouraged to go back and read through those chapters if you haven't already before you listen to the teaching.  
David is facing great adversity as he writes these Psalms.  He is looking to God to unleash vengeance on those who have betrayed him.  
In these Psalms we are reminded that we do not fight flesh and blood but that we fight a very real spiritual enemy and that we must lean on our very real God and his power to overcome evil in order to win these battles.  
Today we discuss these Psalms and Ephesians 6.  Putting on the whole armor of God as we gear up daily to battle against evil in this world.  
Prayer and Praise of the one true God are our 1st and last lines of defense against the evil that tries to stand against us.

This season has been one of wading through deep waters in questions and understanding.  Working through frustration and paths that didn't go the way I maybe thought they might.  Leading to open doors I didn't recognize before.  Sometimes we come to crossroads of our faith and it causes us to step back, and to re-examine.  To dig deeper and to seek God for more understanding.  

I hope you know you have a God that can handle any question you may have, take them to Him and dig into the Word, seek Godly counsel and continue learning, trusting and resting in His good plan.

Contentment and peace are elusive in this life unless you are connected, as John says, to the Vine...Jesus.  Paul talks about how he is content in his weakness, in fact he will only boast of his weakness if he must boast at all.  Why?  Because in his weakness God's strength is what shines through!  He says in 1 Corinthians, God's strength is "made known".  
I want God's strength to be made known through me, don't you!  Well that means I have to be content in where He has me and the only way I can do that is to lean on his understanding and not my own.  

So today that is what we are talking about!  My weakness, His strength...me leaning on His understanding so I can be content and at peace through Him.
