On one hand we want to recognize students who have achieved success in academics, athletics, and the arts. However, if our goal is also to shame kids who did not achieve these rewards, then we are are having an award assembly for the wrong reason. Coach talks about the children and parents who don't need the reminders that they're achievements may never be recognized, but are difficult to do so since it will reveal challenges & disabilities in a child's life.
