 
On this episode, the hosts of Add Water and Stir discuss a couple of recent parenting issues making national headlines. Mimi explored articles on being an older parent, “older” being defined as over 35. Older parents are thought to be be more emotionally and financially stable; but gosh are they tired and they worry about becoming a burden on their children.  ABM explored “Free Range Parenting” philosophy.  Is free range parenting really the opposite of helicopter parenting and how does it intersect with race and socio-economic privilege issues?  Throughout, they both chat about their parenting approaches in raising a toddler and a teen. 

AWAS 017: Parenting in the News

Add Water and Stir will focus on promoting adoption within communities of color, especially within the African American community.  We want to give voice and visibility to families like ours who often seem left out of mainstream adoption conversations.  We hope to educate others as we talk about our struggles and triumphs of parenting adopted children.  Of course, there will be time for Mimi and ABM will kick it about all kinds of not necessarily adoption related topics as well.
