AWCIPA Prayer:

A - Adoration

*Begin your prayer time with adoration. Love on God and let Him love on you. Remind yourself of who God is. Focus on how great He is and on how good He is. He is Alpha and Omega, but He is also Abba Father. He created the universe and holds it in the palm of His hand, but he also knows your name and takes hold of your hand. This will be the hardest part for some people at first, we aren't well practiced at proclaiming who God is. But as time passes you will grow in this ability.

W - Waiting

*Seriously though. Just be still and know that He is God. Remember, prayer is a conversation, not a to-do list that you bring to God. He knows all of your needs before you say a single word... better than you do in fact. Just be quiet and sit with Him.

C - Confession

*Confess your sins, your shortcomings, your failures, your frustrations, your doubt, your fears. Cast your cares and your burdens upon Him, He really does care for you and wants to take those burdens away. His yoke is easy and His burden is light and this is what He wants for you. To refuse to confess is to be like a little child who doesn't get what he wants and sits in the corner and sulks instead of coming to the table to eat. Let it go.

I - Intercession

*We have a responsibility to lift up the needs of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Pray for them as you wish they would be praying for you. When we pray for others it reminds us that the world doesn't revolve about us and it also tends to make our problems seem a lot more manageable.

P - Petition

*You have not because you ask not. Ask, seek, and knock and it will be given to you. None of that false humility, you have a loving Father who delights to bless His children. Climb into His lap and ask.

A - Adoration

*We finish where we began, by adoring our loving King and Lord. Let yourself fall in love with Him and connect with Him. When you get up, take Him with you... or better yet, go with Him wherever He leads.
