AWTR Show #852: Summoned: Answering a Call to the Impossible

Listen Later

There’s a distinct gap between the local church and the military community. It’s difficult to build relationships with the local church when members of the military have to move every so often. When Megan discovered this, she decided to fill that gap, she was answering a call…
Now every time they move, she opens up a bible study that links to the local church. Seven years ago it started out as 6 people meeting for a bible study. It has since blossomed into meetings in many different countries.
There’s a thought in society today that God is only good when his provision for life is what you wanted. God’s faithfulness is not found in his provision of a perfect life, not in the good things that he gives us, or his prevention of painful things. God’s faithfulness is found in his capability and that he keeps his promises. If we misapply the scriptures, we run the risk of missing God.
In a time when the world around her seemed to crumble, a young Hebrew girl found herself in a unique position to help save her people—and to encounter the greatness of our ever-faithful God. In Summoned: Answering a Call to the Impossible, you’ll enter the story of Esther—her calling, pain, and role in God’s ultimate plan for salvation—and see how God is always working in the lives of His people, even when He seems distant. Through this 8-week, interactive study, you’ll develop a deeper appreciation for God’s Word and begin to see that stepping out in faith for His glory is often the first step to encountering His redeeming love.

Don’t forget to check out our blog posts from our amazing team of volunteers. Today we are highlighting a blog from Anna Larson titled, “Hello, my name is…
“I carry a bag of titles around with me. Why? So that I’m prepared to be what I need to be in that moment, when I say, “Hello, my name is…”
I know I’m not alone. Pretty much everyone in the world carries around something similar. Yours might include the words parent, teacher, artist, director, chef, or triathlete. It’s not just about what we do but also who we are.  I am ____blank_____. Insert your titles. Are you kind? Aggressive? Loving? Generous? Bold? Impatient?
The titles we carry are self-identifying labels we wear to share what’s important to us, describe life experiences, and demonstrate the characteristics of our personalities.”
