"Gary Jennings is the best among our historical novelists." (The New York Times)
Members Reviews:
Disappointing
This is a sad follow-up to Aztec. The story feels jammed together, gets stuck on things that do not add to the story.
All of this could have been disguised by a good reader which this story does not have. In fact, I think the reading could be used as an example of "101 Things Reader Should Not Do".
James Olmos or. Jimmy Smits would have been great choices but then my Aunt Tillie would have been better.
Sad. Sadder still because I wasted money on the darn thing.
Not very captivating
The story, although extremely elinghtining of mexico's people and mexico's history, lacks the ability to captivate the readers attention for a very long time. very predictable. The un-abridged version probably better.
really enjoyed it
I read some negative reviews on here and was a little concerned. I read the first book twice and wanted to enjoy this one as well.
I thought it was excellent. I liked the reader, and the story. hopefully someone does the first book, I'd like to hear that.
Bravo! Encore!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, Gary Jennings is a brilliant writer! I appreciate his rendition of Native Mexican History from the storied eyes of an indigenous character.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Vanessa, i won't spoil the story.
What about David Dukess performance did you like?
David Duke's Performance was a 10! Great narrator! Please do the complete Aztec series?
Aztec Autumn
Quite disappointing compared to the original book, Aztec; although it could be because this version is abridged.
I usually prefer unabridged versions. The plot on this seemed to jump around rather than flowing logically... there again, probably because it has been abridged.
