Welcome back everyone, to the Hike’s Peak podcast, thank you for coming back to the mountain! Week 9 delivered some heavyweight bouts, with San Diego State blanking Fresno State in the battle for the Old Oil Can, solidifying themselves as one of the Mountain West’s most dangerous teams. We’ll break the Aztecs' win down, and then we’ll move on to New Mexico getting vindication by handling ex-head coach Bronco Mendenhall and Utah State by double digits, and what that means to the program and Albuquerque as a whole. We’ll also hand out this week’s POTW award, but before all of that, put your best clothes on because we’re heading back to the courthouse! The Mountain West filed some new counterclaims that may reveal the truth behind the five departing schools, headlined by a PAC 12 shaped trojan horse. We’ll dive into the lawsuit update, as well as the San Diego State and New Mexico wins, but to end the show, we’ll take a look at the four bona fide contenders for the conference championship, complete with their strengths and weaknesses, biggest playmakers, remaining schedule, and the de facto elimination games that you can’t miss as the regular season winds down. A jam-packed episode for all of you hikers this week, let’s dive in!
