Communication is a two way street, and striving to be a better listener is vital in building good relationships in work, and in life. Today's episode will give you 4 useful tips on how to become better at the skill of listening.
"Oh, what's that you said? I was just waiting for you to stop talking, so I could hear myself speak!" (HA!)
How many times have you caught yourself doing that?? If I'm honest with myself, too many times to count (for me!)
So, here are a few simple, practical tips to try out today:
Listen in to get all the details and tips to help you be a better listener 1. Maintain eye contact 2. Pocket the smartphone 3. Repeat back and summarize 4. Let them finishRemember, people appreciate it when they feel heard and understood by others. I know I do. And when someone takes the time to show me verbally with their words, and non-verbally with their body language, that they're (truly) listening, it builds trust and respect in our relationship.
And THAT is everything.
You can do this, I believe in you.
It's time to SIMPLIFY.
