We’re back, Babes!
After spending a few months in our Summer jungle, we have lumbered back to the Jungle of Death to bring you our thoughts on the not-quite hit of the Summer — Pacific Rim. Hear our thoughts on Mecha Anime, the future of blockbusters, and Australians! Just make sure you listen at a lower volume level this time as our first podcast recorded on my poor little Mac is a little crackly.
Take care, listeners!
–Rachel
In preparation for the season finale, and another TEN MONTHS with no Game of Thrones, the Babes present [SPOILERIFIC] reactions to the episode everyone’s (still) talking about, and predictions for what came next. We will react to the season finale just as soon as we’re done processing all that’s happened this time around!

With the release of Shane Carruth’s Upstream Color, we revisit his first effort, the dark and cerebral time travel film, Primer. Join us for 50 odd minutes of critique and discussion.
Back to the blog,
Linds
Certain classics of genre are peerless, like Star Trek. Join your babes for about an hour of diatribes and discussions on the latest JJ Abrams offering, Star Trek Into Darkness, a riveting journey into the dorkest parts of the human psyche.
Ramming speed,
Lindsay
The Babes are back in the Jungle of Death with a solid hour of fangirl flutterings about the master, Neil Gaiman. Do you want to know what made us love the Gaimanverse first? Do you want to hear our thoughts on his work in comics, novels, and on-screen? This podcast is for you. And by “podcast,” I mean “love letter.” By “you” I mean “Neil Gaiman.”
Be my valentine,
Linds
In an extravagantly long episode we indulge ourselves in a spoilerific discussion of HBO’s adaptation of George RR Martin’s epic book series A Song of Ice and Fire. Warning: SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS. Come wallow with us in an hour plus of fawning fan girl antics, feminist critique, and predictions for the coming season.
Team Brienne,
Lindsay
We’re back in the Jungle of Death with a terrific, rambling, and sometimes insightful episode about Young Adult Heroines. Join us as we chat about the explosion of YA and the rise of the introverted YA heroine. Thrill as we critique Katniss for the umpteenth time! Recoil in terror as we talk about the merits of Stephanie Meyer’s writing! Rise up as with us as we join together to demand more complete heroines!
And well, just give it a listen. There’s a lot going on in there.
Best,
Linds
The Babes return with even more teen angst. What do you get when you mix star-crossed lovers, witchcraft, and Civil War reenactments? You get Beautiful Creatures, a movie that we all agreed to watch so that you don’t have to.
Because we love you.
Love,
Linds
If there were any Valentine’s Day movie that could bring back the dead, it might very well be the charming, inventive, and ever-so-timely Warm Bodies. Enjoy the aural equivalent of a heart-shaped box of chocolates from your babes as we discuss the only romantic comedy that I have ever liked without any qualms.
Bitches, man,
Lindsay
This Thanksgiving, escape any familial awkwardness and spend 57 glorious minutes traveling through time with the Babes. We discuss the logistics of time travel, offer you an overview of the great works, and ultimately devolve into Whovian free-for-all. Your safety is not guaranteed, but your enjoyment is.
