This week we're talking about how to stay warm on the trail.
For such a seemingly simple question, it's not so straightforward. We've all heard people cry layers, layers, layers but what does that really mean and what kind of layers and how many layers. Let's break it down!
It comes down to three activities:
Heavy ActivityThis is something that involves a lot of moving around. A lot of physical exertion like hiking.
Light ActivityIf you aren’t moving around much it can be challenging to stay warm.
SleepingStaying warm while you're sleeping can be a big challenge if you don't know what you're doing. You really need to understand how your insulation works and how thermal conduction and convection work.
