Narrator not a good fit

This was my very first Emily Giffin book and I really enjoyed the story, but I had a hard time getting through the audiobook because of the narrator. I wish I'd known there was another version read by Cynthia Nixon.

The first person POV of this character called for a natural, conversational delivery and this was not it. Instead it felt like I was listening to a horrendously long commercial because of the stilted, overly enunciated delivery. Because of this, I didn't connect with the characters like I probably would have if I had just read the book. No one talks like this in real life and it really detracted from the story.

Not As Thrilled As I'd Hoped, But OK

Having read other Giffin novels, I was really looking forward to this book as there are relatable story lines within this book to my own life. However, I was a bit disappointed at the this one. While the story took me through several peaks and valleys of the emotional turmoil kind, I was hoping for a more completely packaged resolution. While I'm painfully aware life doesn't always provide you with a clear-cut answer for the hard choices in life, I was hoping for one by the end of this book for the characters' sake. So without that, the book felt a little anti-climactic for me. There was no true picture of what will/would be sacrificed for the one you love. Anyway, the book was fairly good, don't get me wrong, I was just hoping for a little more. However, it did provide me with laughs and things to ponder.

its alright

For some reason, I've always liked chick literature, especially emily giffin. I've liked something borrowed, something blue, heart of the matter no matter how fairytale perfect the endings seemed to be. this book I'm not too sure of. The narrator annoyed me by seeming kind of immature from the start even though she was supposed to be a woman in her early thirties she came across as a silly teenager most of the book.
