Damien Chazelle's ode to 1920s Hollywood is more of a suicide note than a love letter, with its sprawling 3 hour runtime dedicated to manic parties, drugs, drama and developments. It's a fascinating look at the industry one hundred years ago and contains some unbelievably good scenes such as the transition from silent pictures to talkies and the way it revolutionalised everything. Babylon is a wild ride and I never wanted to leave, but having seen it 4 times I can safely say it's one of the most misunderstood films in recent yeare and an absolute smash for me.
